1. What Lowkey is

Lowkey is a weekly email newsletter and website for parents of teenagers, explaining teen culture. The weekly newsletter is free and includes the first half of every issue. A paid subscription is $9 a month and includes the full issue. There is no annual plan.

If you're reading the terms of service, you're either a lawyer, a regulator, or someone who reads terms of service for fun. All three are welcome here.

2. Eligibility

You must be 18 or older to subscribe. We may decline or discontinue any subscription at our discretion. We probably won't. We like subscribers.

3. The free newsletter

The weekly email is free and it stays free. New subscribers also get one full past issue in their welcome email, so you know exactly what you're signing up for.

4. Paid subscriptions

Paid subscriptions are billed monthly at $9, charged at signup and automatically on each renewal. Free newsletter signups are never charged.

Billing is $9/month, charged at signup and automatically each month after.

Cancel anytime using the subscription-management link in any newsletter email. Cancellation stops future charges.

We don't pro-rate partial months.

Cancel within 30 days of your first payment and email us for a full refund. Details in our Refund Policy at /refund-policy.

5. Intellectual property

The newsletter, the website copy, the branding, and every analysis we publish are owned by Lowkey Newsletter, LLC. Your subscription is a personal, non-transferable license to read. Don't republish our issues wholesale. Quoting us to win an argument with your teenager is fine. That's basically the use case.

6. Acceptable use

Don't misuse the site or the service: no scraping our content at scale, no impersonating our staff, no harassing anyone. Act like someone's parent.

7. Disclaimers

Some links on this site are affiliate links, and we may earn a commission on purchases made through them.

Lowkey is general information about teen culture. It is not parenting advice, psychological counseling, medical advice, or legal advice. We explain what teenagers are doing. We don't tell you what to do about it.

The service is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. Teenagers change fast. We do our best.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lowkey Newsletter, LLC's liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. For free subscribers that's $0, which tells you exactly how much legal exposure a free newsletter should create. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages.

9. Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be posted here with a new effective date. Keep using Lowkey after that and you've accepted them. We'll try not to be sneaky about it.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Colorado, because that's where our mailbox lives.
